Customers
The customer directory is the central record of everyone you've enquired with, quoted, or sold a trip to. Each customer profile stores contact details, the history of enquiries and bookings, communications, and any tags you've applied.
Customer vs passenger
A customer is typically the person who enquired and pays for the trip. A passenger is anyone travelling on a booking. The lead passenger is often the customer, but the customer may not travel themselves (e.g. parents booking for adult children).
The customers list
The customer list shows:
- Name with avatar initials.
- Customer type badge (Lead or Passenger).
- Confirmed bookings count.
- Primary email.
- Date of birth (if recorded).
- Created date.
- Tags.
Filters
- Type: Lead, Passenger, or All.
- Tags: Filter by one or more tags.
- Search: Free-text across name, email, and phone.
Lists are sortable by name and date of birth.
Creating a customer
From Customers → New or inline when creating an enquiry/booking. Fields include name, emails (multiple supported), phone numbers (multiple supported), address, date of birth, nationality, and tags.
Customers are also created automatically when an enquiry is received from a new email address.
Customer detail page
Opening a customer shows:
- Contact information: All emails, phones, address, date of birth.
- Booking history: All enquiries and bookings linked to this customer, with status and travel dates.
- Communication history: All conversations involving any of the customer's email addresses.
- Tags with quick edit.
- Portal invite status for active bookings.
- Files uploaded to the customer.
Merging and matching
When a new enquiry comes in from an email address that matches an existing customer, Tourbox links the enquiry to that customer automatically. You can review the match on the enquiry detail page.
Tags
Use tags (configured in Reference → Tags) to categorise customers, e.g. VIP, Repeat, Travel Agent. Tag filters and several reports (Customer Insights, Sales Funnel) make use of tags.
Editing and deleting
Use the Edit action on a customer's profile to update details. Customers cannot be deleted while they still have linked enquiries or bookings.
